The Australian Parking Convention 2012 (APC2012) was held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on 11-13 November.

Secure Parking was the Platinum Sponsor of APC2012 and used the convention to showcase a range of new parking technology to an audience made up primarily of Building Owners and Landlords, Councils and Airport Operators.

The key products on show at the Secure Parking stand at this year's event were as follows:

SecureVision is Secure Parking's National Control Room that offers car park owners the ability to fundamentally change the way they operate their car park, as well as provide them with the ability to reduce operating costs substantially. A fully functional SecureVision Operator Station was set up with one of our highly trained SecureVision National Control Room Operators taking live calls from customers and assisting them with their requirements.  This demonstration was able to show the versatility of the SecureVision 'Plug&Play' system - that connects to any car park equipment type - as well as the level of professionalism that a SecureVision Operator uses to handle the range of customer queries on a day-to-day basis.

Secure-a-Spot is Secure Parking's new online booking system for parking. It has the flexibility to facilitate individual parking transactions, as well as operate as a multi-transactional parking management system for tenants within a building. The live demonstration featured the ability to make a booking on the spot and used the highly distinctive Orange Secure-a-Spot Touch Pad Stands to 'enter' and 'exit' the car park, generating a huge amount of interest with convention delegates.

In an innovative mix of technology and fun, visitors to the stand had the chance to win a Waterproof Camera when they entered the 'Scan your Plate and Win' Promotion. All APC Delegates received a unique Secure Parking Licence Plate in their Convention Satchel. By visiting the Secure Parking Stand and scanning the unique licence plate with the latest Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) Camera, we were able to capture the details of the plate and track the number of times a delegate visited the stand. This was a simple but fun way of demonstrating how LPR Cameras are being used for the management of commercial car parks, as well as how it can be applied to a retail or business car park to manage the use of the car park by unauthorised parkers.

The stand also featured a fully-interative Racing Car that took visitors on a highly immersive hot-lap of the Mount Panorama Track in Bathurst in a challenge to win the latest iPod Touch. There were plenty of dings and plenty of spins, but the only injuries were some damaged egos.

As Platimum sponsor of APC2012, Secure Parking were the hosts of the APC Gala Dinner held at Doltone House. After a dusk Harbour Cruise, guests made their way to the event. Secure Parking's CEO Garth Mathews gave a short presentation on the State of the Industry that highlighted the need for key industry players to work together to protect the interests of the Car Park Industry.  The Gala Dinner also featured music by Jelly Bean Jam and a guest appearance by comedian Anthony Ackroyd who presented an uncanny impersonation of "Prime Minister in Waiting' - Kevin Rudd.

Overall Secure Parking enjoyed a highly successful APC 2012 and we look forward to exhibiting again at the Australian Parking Convention 2014 - set for Brisbane.
